Tracy Goldsworthy

As a busy mum of three, the Outset Online programme fitted perfectly around my schedule.

Tracey’s story

Proving that it’s never too late to change career, Outset client Tracy Goldsworthy traded her pen for a screwdriver and hasn’t looked back since.

Following a 27-year long career with Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC), Tracy Goldsworthy was told that her ‘job for life’ was due to end.

Facing redundancy head on, the feisty mum of three decided it was time for a radical change.

“My husband really encouraged me to take the leap and do something completely different,” shared Tracy.

As Tracy’s husband Simon already runs a property improvements company, she decided to work alongside him, while gaining her domestic electrician qualifications.

Tracy attended her first course earlier this year and was delighted at the encouragement she received from her male counterparts.

“One man said that this time next year I would be employing other women and would be inundated with work,” beamed Tracy.

TG Electrics provides electrical services for domestic dwellings to customers in the mid-Cornwall area.

Once Tracy had made the decision to become self-employed she sought advice from the business start-up experts at Outset Cornwall.

“As a busy mum of three, the Outset Online programme fitted perfectly around my schedule. Running my own business has allowed me to take control of my own destiny.”

With plans to encourage more women into the trade, Tracy aims to grow TG Electrics into a well-known, trusted name in Cornwall.
